Before you begin
- A supported Kodi installation and the matching official PVR client package.
- Your own authorised M3U source and optional XMLTV guide URL.
- A backup of any existing PVR configuration before replacing it.
Install the official PVR client
From Kodi Settings, open Add-ons, Install from repository, then PVR clients and IPTV Simple Client. Choose Install. Packaging can vary by operating system; on some Linux installations, the matching PVR package comes from the distribution’s package manager. Avoid unrelated repositories advertising bundled channels.
Configure a playlist instance
Open the client’s configuration and select the playlist instance or settings appropriate to your version. Choose a remote URL or local file as required and supply your own M3U. Newer versions can use multiple instances; identify the one you are editing before replacing a working source.
Add guide data when provided
In the EPG settings for the relevant source, enter the supplied XMLTV location. Channel identifiers in the playlist must match the guide for programmes to align. Do not treat an empty schedule as proof that the video source is invalid.
Enable and let Kodi import
Save the configuration, enable the client and follow any prompt to refresh or restart Kodi. Wait for playlist and guide loading to finish before opening TV. Check the device time zone and source configuration if the schedule appears offset.
Test a small set before customising
Try several available channels and inspect audio, subtitles and remote controls. Build favourites only once the source is stable. Record Kodi and add-on versions in a support enquiry. A complete PVR reset can remove useful settings, so try a targeted refresh before resetting everything.
If something does not work
- IPTV Simple Client is missing
- Check official packaging for your Kodi version and operating system. A random third-party repository is not a substitute.
- Channels work but EPG is empty
- Check the XMLTV address and matching channel IDs. Confirm that guide data was actually supplied.
- TV does not appear after installation
- Confirm the PVR client is enabled and has a valid configured source, then allow the import to finish.
