Google TV & Android TV setup guide.

Google TV and Android TV devices can run players designed for a television remote. Confirm the operating system, rather than choosing an app from the hardware brand alone.

Television and personal devices ready for a viewing setup

Before you begin

  • A Google TV or Android TV device and access to its official app store.
  • The device’s remote, a stable network and sufficient storage.
  • A confirmed playlist or account in a format supported by your chosen player.
  1. Confirm the platform

Check the device settings for its operating system and model. Different Sony, Philips, TCL and Xiaomi products can use different platforms. A television box is also different from an Android phone: choose an app designed for large screens and remote navigation.

  2. Find the player in the store

On Google TV, search from the home screen or browse the Apps tab. Open the result and install it if available. On Android TV, use the device’s Play Store. Check the publisher and input method; an app designed only for touch can be awkward on a television.

  3. Select the matching login method

For a supported app such as TiviMate, choose the connection type supplied for your account. Do not mix an M3U URL with server-login fields. Name the connection something you recognise without including your password, then allow the first import to complete.

  4. Set up the everyday controls

Try favourites, the guide, audio and subtitle selection using the remote. Check which features need a separate player upgrade. Recording, catch-up and multiview depend on the player, access and rights; their presence in a menu does not guarantee they are included.

  5. Test network and display together

Watch on the actual television, not just a phone on the same Wi-Fi. If video stalls, compare another stream, close extra sessions and test Ethernet where supported. Keep the default decoder and output settings first; change one setting at a time when diagnosing a specific problem.

If something does not work

The remote cannot reach a control
Check that you installed the television edition of the app, not a touch-only mobile version.
The guide is empty
Check whether your access includes guide data, configure its source if necessary, and verify date and time.
The player asks for Premium
Read which app features require payment. A player purchase is separate from access to streams.
