Apple TV setup guide.

Apple TV hardware uses tvOS apps. The Apple TV app on another brand of television is a different product and does not install a tvOS IPTV player.

Television and personal devices ready for a viewing setup

Before you begin

  • An Apple TV with an App Store; check the model before you begin.
  • Access to the App Store and a stable home connection.
  • A tvOS-compatible player and an access format it can open.
  1. Check the Apple TV generation

Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K support App Store downloads. Apple TV third generation does not support installing new apps this way. Confirm your model in settings before looking for a player, and distinguish the physical device from the Apple TV streaming app.

  2. Install the tvOS edition

Open the App Store, search for the player and inspect its listing. Choose Get or the displayed price only after reading purchase terms. Check that the developer and tvOS support match the app you intended; a similarly named iPhone player can be a different product.

  3. Connect your own source

Use the supported playlist or account option inside the player. If the app offers pairing by a code, follow its own documented destination and do not share the code publicly. Do not use a phone’s Apple account password as the IPTV account password.

  4. Test remote, audio and subtitles

Browse with the remote, open a stream and check the track-selection controls. Test your actual TV or receiver sound output. App features and available tracks can differ from the iPhone version, even when the same developer makes both.

  5. Check how a second screen behaves

Stop the Apple TV stream before testing on another device if your access allows one connection. Do not assume an App Store family purchase also shares your viewing account. Ask the team about allowed simultaneous use and any device-specific limitation.

If something does not work

There is no App Store
Check the hardware generation. The Apple TV app on a smart TV does not provide a tvOS App Store.
My iPhone player is missing
Look for explicit tvOS support on its listing; iPhone compatibility alone is insufficient.
Casting fails but local playback works
Casting support depends on the app and stream. Try direct playback in a supported tvOS app.
