Before you begin
- The full model number from Settings or the product label.
- Your operating system and local app catalogue.
- Your required access format and any essential viewing features.
Find the operating system
Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Google TV, Android TV, Fire TV, Roku and VIDAA are different platforms. Some manufacturers sell TVs with more than one system. Find the exact model and platform before searching for a player or paying for an app licence.
Choose a matching guide
Use our Samsung or LG guide for those platforms. For a television running Google TV or Android TV, use the Google TV guide regardless of its brand. An integrated Fire TV should follow the Fire TV guide. If your platform is not covered, ask about compatibility using the model number.
Compare the actual app listing
Check its publisher, platform, formats and current availability in your region. A player with a familiar name on another store is not necessarily the same application. If no suitable app exists, discuss a compatible external streaming device rather than forcing unsupported software onto the TV.
Confirm the whole setup before purchase
Verify both the player’s licence conditions and the service’s access conditions. Ask about the formats and content you need, then test on the actual television. Features such as recording, guide data, multiview or alternative audio depend on more than the TV’s advertised resolution.
Use your test to identify limitations
Check ordinary playback, channel changes, network stability and sound through your real speakers. Note any feature that differs from expectations and raise it before choosing a plan. Keep your model and player name handy so follow-up help starts from the correct setup.
If something does not work
- My brand appears under several platforms
- Use the operating system shown on your exact model; branding alone does not identify the app store.
- There is no guide for my system
- Send the model, operating system and chosen app through Contact. Roku or VIDAA support should be checked individually.
- An external box is connected to the TV
- Use the box’s platform guide. The television may simply be acting as its display.
